Welcome To The Most liveable City In The World

Saturday February 13, 2010

"Welcome To My City"
Vancouver is a vibrant, energetic, flourishing city. On the real estate front the most remarkable changes began in 2002 when local, and international home buyers competed to own a piece of this beautiful city.
This year, the rest of the world will have an opportunity to learn more about Vancouver.
From the Sea to Sky beauty and the stimulating multi-cultural diversity living harmoniously in this wonderful city, you will discover that Vancouver is truly an exceptional place to be.
As a local real estate specialist, I am pleased that Vancouver is recognized as an amazing place to live, work, play and raise a family.

I wish the athletes and all our guests an experience of a lifetime at our 2010 Olympiad. I hope your visit to Vancouver will be the first of many more!.

Xīn Nián Kuài Lè "Happy New Year"
2010 Chinese New Year Day is on February 14, 2010 in China’s time zone.
This day is a new moon day, and is the first day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar system.
The exact new moon time is at 10:52 on 14-Feb-2010 in China time zone.
In the Pacific Standard Time (PST), the new moon time is at 18:52 of 13-Feb-2010.
Therefore, the Chinese New Year Day for North America time zones is on February 13, 2010.
By the Chinese Calendar this year is 4707;the Year of the Tiger, which is also known by its formal name of Geng Yin.

How did Chinese New Year come to be celebrated?
According to an ancient legend, people were once tormented by a beast called a Nian - a ferocious creature with an extremely large mouth, capable of swallowing several people in a single bite.
Relief from the Nian came only when an old man tricked the beast into disappearing. In reality, New Years festivities probably evolved from a desire to celebrate the end of winter and the fertility and rebirth that come with the spring, much like the ancient Roman festival of "Lupercalia" .Today, New Years is about family reunions and wishing everyone good fortune in the coming year.
"Lupercalia"
Lupercalia was a very ancient, possibly pre-Roman pastoral festival, observed on February 15 to avert evil spirits and purify the city, releasing health and fertility. Lupercalia subsumed Februa, a possibly earlier-origin spring cleansing ritual held on the same date, which gives the month of February its name.
